To date over 80 doctoral studies have completed using skills-based models of emotional intelligence (EI). There is much left to learn, and the TEI Foundation provides grants and scholarships for doctoral-level and post-doctoral research to extend learning and knowledge about the practical applications of EI for facilitating the development of healthy individuals, schools, communities, and organizations. Sometimes scholars require outside financial support to pursue their social science research.  The TEI Foundation provides competitive grants to support qualifying research activities in the name of Darwin B. Nelson for Outstanding Research in Transformative Emotional Intelligence. Scholarships may be awarded to support academic tuition, support for publication, and meaningful participation to present research findings in both national and international conferences in the name of Gary R.
